I'm a long time user of Firehouse Mustache Wax, and I must say that Captain Fawcett's beats it hands down. It has a great hold like Firehouse; however, it smells much, much better. The lavender isn't overpowering and it doesn't have that nasty undertone scent that most beeswax products have. It's a bit pricey, but worth it. Delivery from the UK to Washington state was less than a week. Extremely pleased.
The Captain Fawcett's Moustache Wax - Sandalwood has a great strong hold. But the sandalwood scent is nearly non existent. Its 95% beeswax smell and barely a hint of anything else. I was really hoping for wax that had a pronounced sandalwood scent. Considering how expensive, how small it is and how long it takes to get here, i probably won't buy it again.
I use this wax almost every day to control my moustache, now that I've let it grow out and part it to the sides from below my nose. It should be scraped out of the container with the back of a thumb or finger nail a little at a time. I need to take it out six to eight times and warm it between my index finger and thumb just until it becomes transparent right before application to a small section of my mustache. I use the Expedition Strength wax only on the tips of the moustache and right above my top lip as those are the most difficult areas to control Regular beard balms do not possess the ultra-stickiness of Capt. Fawcett's and leave my beard with a plastered appearance. When combed out and touched into place, this product looks normally combed, not greasy and gooey.
This wax smells wonderful, has a neutral taste, and works exactly as you want it to! I had previously been using a generic wax from the grocery store that was very greasy, and then tried Firehouse Tacky, which was way to waxy. Captain Fawcetts worked perfectly for my mustache in Seattle. However I visited the country for spring break and had to use the Firehouse, I think which wax works for you depends just as much on climate as it does your personal hair type. My beard is quite soft naturally so I don't need anything waxy and the greasier stuff causes me to break out.
This wax has a pleasant smell and is quite easy to apply. Scrape a little out with the back of your thumbnail, and it softens very quickly when you rub it between your fingers. It doesn't have a massive amount of hold like Firehouse Tacky does, but it is substantially easier to work with than that product and doesn't ever cause clumping. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Only gave it 4 stars because the description very clearly states it is 16ml, but it is only 15ml. What you receive is a plastic bag that says 16ml on it, and inside the bag the bottle that is both labeled from the factory as 15ml and also has a sticker on the bottom that says 15ml.
It arrived a day late, I didn't realize it was coming all the way from the UK, so a day late is ok with me. I've had the jar for a day now and I'm already very happy. The hold is very good and the fragrance, while not overpowering, is definitely and clearly sandalwood. I happen to think that's great. Love the text on the jar "tested on humans," "keeping a stiff upper lip, regardless," "be a good chap, the dear planet requires our help, cap and jar should be recycled." I'd like it for that alone, but I love it most for the fragrance. It's quite stiff to get out of the jar and you'll need a comb to apply it properly, but that's the point, to have an easily groomable upper lip.
I bought this for my husband, so I have not personally used it. He likes it because it is very easy to work with. It's not meant for the fancy handlebar styles, but it works well to keep his long mustache out of his mouth. Overall, he likes it and would buy it again.
I had been using captain fawcett for years and love it! Goes on smooth, no build up or chalkiness and lasts for hours. I love how it’s not stiff but strong enough to tame my curlies. By far the best wax on the market.
The wax itself is good, you won’t be disappointed. Be very careful opening it for the first time. I tried peeling off the barcode sticker that was sealing it, and a big chunk of the cap completely snapped off making it unable to seal now.

Just what I was looking for. Have been using a balm for mustache and wanted something with a bit more wax for training. Only need a small amount on your nail. No noticeable scent. Size of container is smallin size and opening. A tin would be better.

I very rarely review any of my purchases, but this one warrants it. This wax is fantastic! I’ve tried several other waxes, very highly rated ones too, and they were nowhere near as good as this stuff. I’ve tried for months to tame my mustache hair. They tell you if you just keep pushing it, it will become trained. This was not the case for mine. Months of “training” and no success. So I then moved to trying wax. Most of them failed very quickly. Some might have held an hour or so. This stuff though, holds all day and it’s amazing! It’s a much stiffer wax and yes, it has a higher price tag, but it’s well worth it. I will absolutely be purchasing this again. Absolutely amazing!
The aroma is amazing, the hold is incredible.. Its not petroleum based like the mustache wax, so it's more plyable. Absolutely love this stuff...

Supposedly sandalwood but didn't smell like much of anything to me. But the thickness and hold are very good which is most important. Would recommend.

Was surprised that this product arrived from England. Had to pick up at the post office, as I had to sigh for it?! Not convienient. Great for shaping and holding, with a nice fragrance. Would buy again if I find it in the states!

I like how it smells and is easy to apply. It's my first wax that I've ever used, I like that way if feels and looks right after I use it, but after a few minutes is seems to lose it's hold. Maybe I should try a stronger hold for the look I want.
I have wax from the manufacturer and in other fragrances. I love the scent of lavender and wax smells really intense. A little difficult to apply, because it is hard enough and when you give it a lot of the reading room at fuzoch. Overall, the product is very efficient.
I have purchased four different waxes to date (I'm sure I will continue to experiment) and this is one that I will buy again. It does not dry quite as stiff as I would like, but it is heavier and more "moldable" than some others. So far I have found that I like using Capt Fawcett's as my main base to shape my mustache and then putting a thin covering of clubmans over it which makes it dry more and stay in place. The sandalwood scent really does smell like wood, is pleasant and not strong.
Captain Fawcett's Moustache Wax works quite well. It was easier to apply than I expected, in comparison to other stiff waxes. What I got was a respectable, lasting hold. I especially like that it's in a small jar with an easy to grip top, where other waxes are supplied in tiny round tins. Next time I will try the other fragrance as I'm not fond of the sandlewood scent.
Does well even for a very curly mustache during ideal conditions, I found that in the rain however it tends to be useless. It works good enough that i will try the stronger version for worse conditions. The smell wasn't what i had hoped either though it wasn't a bad smell.
I have bought a dozen waxes and this by far offers the best hold it doesn’t show ingrediants, but it must be pine sap without the pine smell. A good wax.

Title says it all. It’s only .5 oz. I saw that thought I would try it anyway. But pretty much like all the rest of them on the market. Like the scent though.
Meant for lighter hair colors but it smells nice and holds well without being too hard. Needs shampoo to get it out.
Hint: a pound of beeswax is $10 on Amazon. But it doesn’t have the lovely lavender scent.
This is a pretty decent product they only downsides I have to say is that when you apply it on, it only stays on for about 10 minutes or so before you have to apply more to make your curled mustache stay and the more you apply the more flakey and dirty your mustache will look. It would be great for new beginners who are starting to try out curling their mustaches and eventually upgrade.
This product smells dreadful, and not like sandlewood in the slightest. I would not recommend putting this under your nose. The hold isn’t great either. I’ve given it about a week of wear and am giving in. Don’t waste your time.
