Hit and miss
So I do really, really like this product. It gives my curls definition without the awful crunch of gel. The problem is the product is inconsistent. I think it might have to do with age. So the first time I used this it was perfect. Worked easily into my hair, no visible residue. I was in love. The second bottle was just as good. The third bottle produced little tiny globs of white stuff that would not incorporate into my hair. I ended up meticulously picking the globs out. This happened periodically throughout the whole bottle. The fourth bottle was ok with no issues, but this fifth bottle has the same globbing problem. Again, the only thing I can think of is age of the product. Ultimately, I will continue to use this because, frankly, it's fantastic. I think I will start purchasing it from the salon though. Little bit more money, but at least I know I can return it if there is an issue.

ladies, if you have curly hair, chances are you've already tried dozens of products. give this one a try--put in a very generous amount and scrunch. let it dry completely (it will be crunchy). run your fingers through to get all the crunch out. voila! very defined curls, plenty of volume, and SOFT! very low maintenance--I wash once a week and just spritz with water throughout and the curls come right back to life. Shelf life and seller matter
This is a product that obviously has a shelf life. I wasted $40+ in previous transaction getting a product that was discolored, smeared around in the package and left the little white flakes in my hair. I took a chance and purchased it again based on the responses from this seller and am happy to say I received exactly what I wanted. I just used it and comparing the quality of the product to the junk I had before was night and day. The bottle arrived in pristine condition and the gel portion was clear enough to see through, not the yellowish color I'd previously received. I 100% recommend the product from this seller (Maison Rouge), but buyer beware a little if ordering it from any other.

Let me give y’all the scoop because I can’t say ENOUGH great things about this product: 1) TECHNIQUE is everything. Use your finger(s) and section off parts of your hair and curl! The only product I’ve ever tried that I can wash my hair in the evening, and let air dry completely with ZERO crunchiness! Just super soft and shiny curls. 🙌🏻 Very lightweight hold, but helps to shape and hydrate. Scent is very neutral and once it’s dry I can’t smell it at all. It only takes a very small amount (I made the mistake of using too much not too long ago, and it made my hair feel dirty 🫤)…so less is more.

Curls hold without frizz
I’ve used this for 15-20 yrs. They have changed formula over the years. Doesn’t smell as good as it did when it first came out but that’s alright I suppose. The reason I buy it still does well. I did leave a review on their site complaining about it but they don’t care anyhow. The trick to this stuff is not to use too much, I apply when hair is air drying for about an hour after wash. It doesn’t work very well when my hair is longer, past my shoulders for some reason. It does leave litter white flecks behind but they seem to fade after drying. The original formula never did this. If your hair is the type that all cream or all gel or mousse doesn’t work for you then this should work. That is the reason I bought it when I saw the gel and cream combo and thought why not. I’ve used other creams and curl enhancing items in the past but I’ve ALWAYS come back to this quirky little formula.

Leaves a residue on hair 😔
I’m so disappointed cause the product is $28 and it leaves a residue on hair. I tried it as instructed, damp hair, like in my video post. Ans I also tried it on dry hair. Then I tried it on dry hair by adding water to the product while in my hand then rubbing it together then applying it. It didn’t matter I alway got those white blobs left in my hair. Too bad I was really hoping this product would live up to its name and description.

Good for type 4a through 4c course thick hair - start with a leave in conditioner
I believe there is shea butter in here, so if you have black hair or are type 4a though 4c, you know what’s up. The key is to rub a quarter size amount in your palm to warm, then comb though your hair, using your fingers, if possible. Also, our hair is thick and the natural hair oils cannot penetrate the shaft like fine hair. I use Paul Mitchell Tea Tree leave in conditioner spray prior to any styling product. I am a black man with medium to long length type 4 hair that’s coily. Also, this is not greasy. I tried this because I need the moisture but dislike greasy hair. I used this once so far and am having positive results. I use this as a serum and moisture base FIRST, then use a little Paul Mitchel Awapuhi mousse on top to hold my hair in place and cut down on frizz. For now, I’ll stick with this combo. Value seems ok considering I only need a small amount and it effectively holds my hair in place, while sealing in moisture after washing and conditioning. In case you’re wondering, I use the Paul Mitchell Awapuhi shampoo and cream rinse too. I’ve read comments about flakes and saw pics. Either this is not for your hair type or you’re not warming this in your palms before application.

do not use too much
this product is rich and can spread a lot through one squirt on the hand, rub your hands together and pat on the hair and then rub through or press through. If you have to you just patch your hair and press a little bit then if you want to you can use your hands and spread it through your hair and this way you’ll tell if you need more depending on the length of your hair and the conditions of your dry ends, but I found this being used in my salon when I went to get my hair done and it gave very good results and the more you use it the nicer the hair is and I also use a silk bonnet to sleep in that helps smooth down the frizzies.

See the photos! I didn’t wait to order this until I needed it, so it’s well past the return window. Otherwise I would return it. Good for thick curly hair
Really a great product for thick curly hair! I've tried many and this really works for me. I use the TurbieTwist Microfiber towel to dry my hair and then leave it twisted up and drying while I get ready. This towel really does a good job of drying without making it frizzy. Also important is never combing through your curls!! Then I put about a quarter sized amount of Paul Mitchell Twirl Around in my hair and scrunch it all up with head flipped over. Then I pull all hair up into a twist and use a huge claw clip to keep it all up while I drive about an hour to work. When I take it down before walking in, I shake it out a bit and the curls are PERFECT! Lasts much longer even though my hair is very heavy and usually pulls out curls quickly...recommend highly!!

Other products I have used would hold my curls, but leave them crunchy or "scratchy" as my ex boyfriend would say. It dispenses equal parts creme and gel, which would have saved me from purchasing two products (because equal parts gel and creme are what I use in my curl routine).
