I absolutely love this hair balm. It is very very lightweight but keeps my hair hydrated and provides wonderful hold. I have finer wavy hair with some ringlets here and there. I tried this several ways and the best that works for me is after my hair is towel dried I apply this by raking with my fingers and slightly scrunching and then air dry. It provides a very slight cast that softens once you scrunch a tiny bit. I usually try to use curl products on soaking wet hair but this just didn't work like that for me. The smell is gender neutral and delightful. My hair when using this is super shiny and manageable. It doesn't provide a ton of moisture which is perfect for me because my hair gets weighed down super easily. It is also reworkable meaning i can just get my hair slightly wet in the morning and it reactivates the cream and makes my waves spring back up. It has a powdery feel that allows me to go longer between washing my hair. I would absolutely recommend this and will be stocking up on several tubes so I never run out. The price is high esp for only like 3oz but I only use maybe 1/2 a dime size about on my shoulder length hair so it lasts a long time.

Same labeled size but smaller item
The original I got from Ipsy (on the left) once that ran out I came to Amazon. Received the one on the right. I did notice it is a tad bit smaller than the original. The smell is also a little different. Product works great though. Gave my frizzy hair a tame. Fly aways are tucked away on straight hair days. Adds texture. Emphasis of the curls on curly days. Really love this formula.

Comically small
This bottle is comically small which would be ok if it didn’t also take loads of product to do anything. This I like if you mixed a pinch of badlands (which I love) into like a 1/4 cup of watery gel that didn’t hold. It’s very strange. The good news is you can’t really put too much product in. Bad news is I can’t barely tell a difference. I have a ton of baby fine hair, shoulder length, blonde, and straight/wavy

Good for thin hair

It does soften hair
It’s weird because when I first purchased this, the scent was apparent and was pleasant. I think the product must lose “freshness “ and that scent, that I liked so much. New application after the first two weeks didn’t provide the same scent. This happened the last time I purchased this product and I thought it may have been a fluke. I guess not…bummer because the scent is why I purchased it a second time.

My new favorite product
I am absolutely thrilled with this product. I will be the first to say I am lazy when it comes to my hair. I have all these products I use to make my hair nice and straight for my style days. However, I work from home so most of the time I just let my hair air dry. I have pretty thin hair to begin with so it usually looks like a wavy mess. I just got this product yesterday. I used it last night after my shower and this morning (after sleeping on it no less), I ran a comb through it and was so happy with the way it looked. I put a little more in it later today and it looks like I did WAY more than just adding some product and calling it a day. What a miracle product! I’m in love. Will be again and again!

Soft, not Sticky.
I use this everyday after I blow dry my hair. It is so soft and gives a light hold. If I want a stronger hold, I use a thicker paste, but Velvet Curtain is great for everyday styling. It doesn't feel sticky or give me that "I-have-to-wash-this-product-out-of-my-hair" feeling. If you want a really strong hold, this isn't the thing for you. But if you want to smooth out your ends after drying, this is perfect. I've purchased this multiple times.

Expensive but it works

A hair staple!!

Doesn't really do much
Pros: It smells ok, but not amazing. Cons: I don't really know what this product is supposed to do because it doesn't do much. I guess I would describe it as being sort of like a leave-in conditioner because it does make hair feel a bit softer. Other than that, as a "texture balm" it does not create texture or provide any sort of styling benefits.
