Good Stuff - Sincerely, The Wife
My husband—bless him—has been trying to achieve “that messy but styled but rugged yet put-together” look since approximately 2017. We’ve been through gels, pastes, pomades, creams, you name it. Enter: Uppercut Deluxe Clay. This little tub of magic shows up, and suddenly my man is strutting through the house like he’s in a slow-mo barbershop ad. And he’s not wrong. His hair looks incredible. Matte, touchable, somehow perfectly messy without looking like he just survived a hurricane. What I love? No greasy pillows. No weird crunchy helmet head. And he still looks good even after chasing our toddler across a playground. 10/10 would recommend. Uppercut for the win.

Get out the degreaser & shop rags!
After being pleasantly surprised by Uppercut's Matte Pomade (recommend) which I recently purchased after a haircut, I was excited to try the Clay. I have used many other hair clays. My pref for product(s) is matte / lowest sheen + strong hold. None have ever left as much of a hard-to-clean mess on my hands after using as Uppercut Clay. I do not use a ton of product to style. This clay required multiple hand-washings to remove. The picture you see attached is AFTER the first hand washing, using hand soap and warm water. Moved to a kitchen sink and some Dawn dish soap after that. 3 tries with that combo = success. If it was that hard to get off my hands, I am not looking forward to shampooing this out of my hair... I really like a few other brands of hair clay and will stick (ha) with those. Like I said - the Matte Pomade from Uppercut is something I will continue to use too. This tin is going in the bin.

Amazing Product!
It's a good feeling to know you've found a product that you'll stick with for years. This is one of those products. I discovered this product through watching YouTube videos on how to style a slickback. I am so happy with my purchase! It's easy to rub into your hands, has a great consistency, holds the hair really well, and washes off easy. What more could you ask for? The scent is nothing special but you're not really buying this for the scent. Overall, this is a top quality product that I'll be buying over and over.

Awesome Product
I have hair about 2-3 inches in length and I’ve always had issues with my hair getting messed up throughout the day after I sweep it to the side in the morning. I’ve tried all kinds of products such as gels, waxes, sprays, and powders, but my main arch nemesis (aka the wind) always ends up finding a way to ruin my hair. After using this clay, I can literally go out into a category 5 hurricane and face both of my main rivals (wind/rain) and still come home with my hair in place. Also, I’m still only on the first “can” and it’s been months since I first bought it. Definitely would recommend this along with a good styling comb (the ones with the thick teeth).

Not as good as the original formula
Very similar to the original in every way other than 1) washes out super ez with 1 round of shampoo and 2) IT DOES NOT HAVE THE SAME HOLDING OR CONTROL STRENGTH AS THE ORIGINAL... however I have found that if I increase the amount of product I use it does recaptured some territory but with the previous fórmula I only needed a modest quarter size dallop where I am now having to use at least twice as much.

This product is way too hard to get out of the container and to spread evenly to even get it in your hair. While I don’t use this product often, it completely dried up hard as a break in less than a year. I kept it in my bathroom closet

When receiving a proper uppercut, no one can stand unfazed. You’re gonna fall or stumble back either way. But when your hair gets uppercut.. it’s gonna stay up firm and take whatever you throw its way! Great product.

Great for difficult hair
I have extremely hard-to-manage hair that will break down most gels and pomades, even those labeled as "high hold", and I often have to try several products before landing on one that works well enough. This product holds extremely well while being reworkable with a little bit of water. It smells great, with a slightly sweet coffee, leather, and wood scent. I am currently purchasing my third container and will continue to trust it for a long time to come.

Water-Based, Easy to wash out
This is the new water based formula for Clay from Uppercut. I have been using the old oil based formula for 6 years and it’s been my go-to everyday because it’s the only thing that holds my wavy thick hair. I’m torn with this new formula because in terms of hold I would say it’s a 6-7 out of 10 I have to use more of it to get desired style. But definitely washes out and smells decent.

Really like the hold an smell. But last two times it arrived very dried out. I was able to add a Tablespoon of water and mix really well in a seperate bowl but for the price point not sure if I'll buy again. Still had hard chunks I had to work with my hands before aplying so was managable but not ideal. Maybe not a manufacuter problem but an amazon warehouse issue. Either way sorry for the 3 stars Uppercut. Not cutting it.

It Would Be Perfect - If It Lasted
I want to love this stuff and give it 5 stars, I really do. This is so close to perfection for me: it feels great coming out of the tin, (you DO have to get it warm rubbing it in your hands though to get it workable, but it’s super easy to apply and work with once you do) has a nice scent that isn’t too overpowering, easy to apply, sets in FAST and holds my hair in place nearly perfectly with an effortless, natural matte finish that makes it look like you just woke up like this. It also washes out incredibly easy. It just doesn’t last. I’ve used it through long shifts at the warehouse, formal events that only last an hour or two, and casual nights out with the friends. It can’t hold it for anything. Even before the formal event was over, my hair progressively fell apart until it was like there was absolutely no product in it at all. I tried wearing it around the house on a day off and reapplying as necessary - any reapplication after the initial one makes my hair greasy, piecey, and heavy. It just doesn’t have the super-high hold it advertises. It’s my understanding that it did at one point, but it changed its formula. Seems to be a running theme with hair products.

Comes dried and hard
I really want to like this stuff. I've ordered it twice and used both containers. They both showed up completely dried out and hard. Literally it could all fall out of the container in one solid/hard piece. So for both I had to pour in water and let them soak for a day or two and then mix it well with my fingers. It then becomes usable and spreadable.

New formula is terrible
Formula has been changed from oil based to water based, it's terrible now. This was the goto for thick clay, it was hard to work with out of the can, but styled soo dang well. All good things must come to an end and looks like Uppercut reformulated this into a water based clay and it's absolutely terrible, makes your hair feel like tangled straw....but hey, it washes out easier guys! Very dissappointed since I have been using the OG formula for many years. Time to move on to BYRD clay as its the only thing I can find that is close.

No. Just no.
First, if you're going to sell a container this small, at least have the decency to fill it to the top. Seriously? You're going to charge this much for these tiny containers, and then you're going to go all shrinkflation on your customers? Second, it smells like baby powder mixed with whatever an alien would come up with if it was given a vague description of "sandalwood", not "leather and woods". Seriously, it smells like a daycare center if it was being run out of a headshop. Worst smelling crap I ever tried.

This new formula is alot better than the old formula of the UpperCut Clay. The old one was very hard to wash out. With this new one, you can wash it out with water. The new UpperCut Clay also styles my hair alot better than the old one. The smell is nice as well. I've tried alot of clays on the market and so far this is my favorite one.

Perfect Product
I have a long pony-hawk skin-fade thing going and it’s been tough to find a product that isn’t too heavy but actually holds. Certain pomades worked well until it got a bit too long, but the fiber/paste products can seem a bit light, and I end up looking like Lord Farquaad after an hour of slicking it back…this clay has been awesome. If down right, with a blow dryer and spritz of hairspray afterword, the styling is limitless. Will definitely continue purchasing this one! Hopefully, there will be a larger size available. Although not much product is needed to work its magic, for longer hair, it does disappear from the tin more quickly. Otherwise, it’s perfect.

Not bad
Looking for a replacement for a clay product that is getting harder to find. Gave this a shot and first thing I noticed is how hard it is. Mixes in hands/fingers easy enough though. Also it washes out easy! It doesn’t consistently perform good every time though. Provides a good hold but doesn’t allow for much maneuvering.
