Great shave soap!
I've been using a brush and soap for some time, especially soaps from the Colonel. Although Edwin Jagger products are somewhat more expensive than the Colonel's, I have to say that Edwin Jagger Sandalwood soap is a superior product in my opinion. It provides a richer, smoother lather that smells great and allows a great shave. I am a convert to Edwin Jagger and will give their other soaps a try in the future. The increase in price over the Colonel is what I would expect to pay for the better quality.

Love it
I ordered this soap by mistake, I was thinking it was one of the bigger bars. When I opened the box and saw that it was a smaller bar I was disappointed that I spent more for it than I had the other larger bars. I went ahead and kept it and started using it. Now it will be the only soap I buy from now on. It lathers faster and richer than the other bars I've used and I really like the sandlewood scent. I do believe at this point it will last at least as long or longer than the other larger bars. Thanks

Excellent shaving soap
I've been using Art of Shaving and some other soaps for about 10 years, but wanted to see if there was something that was a little kinder to my sensitive skin (not that those were bad, just looking for improvement). So I chose the aloe vera, since that plant seems to have some healing or at least antiseptic properties. I have not been disappointed; rashes and ingrown hairs seem to have decreased with it. As far as it's shaving properties go, the razor glides very well. It lathers well, too, although not quite the lemon meringue-stiff lather that some other soaps produce. If you enjoy a bigger, thicker lather, this may not do it for you. But that's purely in the cosmetic department -- functionally this gives decent coverage, penetrates the beard well, and lets' the razor glide very smoothly. I definitely plan on sticking with this for awhile and after I finish this particular soap, am going to try some of their other "flavors."

Great shaving soap at a great price!
As with all Edwin Jagger products, this one does not disappoint. It is well made and smells great. I would recommend to anyone on a tight budget, who would like a great soap from an established, British brand. Are there better soaps out there? Yes. Could I possibly find an even better deal and better soap made by an artisan? Of course. Will this soap give me all of the slickness, cushion and glide necessary for an excellent shave? YES IT WILL! You can't go wrong, so give it a try.

Edwin Jagger Soap
I'm a big fan of Edwin Jagger, but I was a little disappointed with this soap. Admittedly, I've only used it a few times, so I could be experiencing some user error, but so far, i found it a little hard to lather, and a little bit drying on the face. Also I noticed a few extra nicks and cuts than normal too. The scent however was great. Also for what it's worth, if someone has a hard time with a soap, or cream, the type of water that they have (hard vs soft) can make a big impact. Just saying. I feel like I'm giving a less than perfect review on a product that has a lot of fans, as well Edwin Jagger has a lot of other products that I love, so I want to justify my comments. I'll try to remember to update this review as time goes by, especially if I notice a difference.

It was ok.
This stuff works beautifully. Great lather. However, you can barley smell any sandlewood in this product. (The smell was so faint I wonder if I'm imagining it!) There really was no indication of sandlewood in it. This was an extra-small puck. Much smaller than the picture makes it look. (It's about half the size of most other competitors.) The Amazon packaging was bad... Looked like it had been opened already and was open on one end on our doorstep although nothing was missing. Anyway, it's still nice, sent to correct address & works great!

Edwin Jagger Sandalwood Shaving Soap
I have not been dissatisfied with any products from Edwin Jagger, not thrilled about their prices but you get what you pay for. I'm a straight shaver and I like a variety of soaps as long as they aren't too "perfumed" or make me break out, as I have very sensitive skin and very hard whiskers. I know, what a combo, sucks to be me! I get bored sometimes with certain smells and like to change up soaps. Sometimes depending on my mood I might grab one of my soaps which have a more pungent aroma just to wake me up but this scent is not one of them. I saw this on Amazon, and while it wasn't my first choice for a new scent, I decided to give it a try as the price was cheaper than I had seen for Edwin Jagger, and while another manufacturers had the same scent for less, I decided to try it from Edwin Jagger. Smell: was nice, not over powering, did not affect my choice of cologne. Lather: was quick and easy to apply, did dry a little quicker than some other soaps and if you are a cream user it will dry quicker than what you were using, but I just lightly dipped my brush in a little hot water and it took care of it! Also if it is too dry for you, just dab a little of your cream on the brush and whisk away and you should have an even better lather! I didn't need to do this and liked it just fine with soap and water. For a small refill it also seems to last, and as I try many different soaps, I like this refill size as it's easy to pop in and out of my mug and replace after it's dry. No Worries!

Minimal scent and great lather.

Amazing shaving soap!
I was running out of shaving soap and didn't want to try my luck at the local supermarket. After reading several reviews, I settled on this Edwin Jagger. I received the package and was greeted by the pleasant aroma of sandalwood when I opened the box. The soap has a buttery, but light texture and a very nice scent. It lathers up very well with my badger brush and the shave was very nice. I can't expect more out of a shave soap and the price is quite competitive! I would certainly recommend this soap to anybody that shaves manually with a brush. It will last a long time and provide many comfortable, good-smelling shaves!

Good soap, nice scent
I bought this because my usual shave soap has been out of stock and I needed to use something. This one is a little cheaper, works just as well, and although I like the scent of my favorite this one is still very nice! debating about going back to the old brand or continuing to use this one. Will wait and see what the lifespan of the puck is, I've only been using it for a few weeks.

This soap lasts forever, it smells wonderful and it really has become part of what perks me up in the morning. I hope they never change I might use this soap the rest of my life. It was actually worth the money, not just for quality but for economy. This soap is harder, dries faster and lasts longer than the alternatives. It is designed to work best with a light lather which creates the perfect amount of lubrication and softens the hair.

Kick the can! This is great shaving!
I used Barbasol for many years being easy to get and inexpensive. But I had skin irritation and redness and my face (especially my neck and chin) felt sore. But this product has changed all that. Most of the irritation and redness are gone and my face is much smoother after shaving. I use this soap with the Tweezermann brush and I no longer dread shaving. Yes, it takes a while to whip up a lather and I will still use Barbasol when travelling but when at home this is the way to go! I love this shaving soap. Has a slight scent that some may not like but I find it smells quite nice. For the record, I use a double edged saftey razor with Merkur blades (also available at Amazon along with the Tweezerman brush).

Nice Lather/No Scent
This lathers quickly and well -- and I live in a hard water state where soaps don't seem to lather much, so I'm told. It lubricates my razor and so helps make my DE shaves great. I don't smell things all that well and so I'm sure there's a scent, but it's nothing I or my wife notice. Also, and this is a great plus, I've had 4 shaves with this puck so far and the puck looks like I've barely touched it. This ones gonna last a long time, I'm sure (my guess-timate is 20 or 30 shaves. Much cheaper than a couple of cans of the shaving foam goo you get at the drug store!)

High quality and lasts a long time
My husband loves this shave soap. He had been using one from l'Occitane, but when I bought this one for him to try, he switched to it permanently. Fewer nicks and my skin felt better after a shave
I switched to using this about 10 years ago from canned aerosol soap. I was still using cartridge blades at the time. With just the change in soap I saw a big change in my shaves. Fewer nicks and my skin felt better after a shave. Recently I switch from cartridges to a double edge safety razor, mainly due to the price of cartridges. After debating whether to also change from this soap, I decided against it. I did watch a video on properly lathering the soap which helped and I continue to get excellent shaves with the safety razor as well using this soap. Will continue to buy.

mild scent, thick lather.
I use this shaving soap, as well as Taylor of Old Bond Street Almond Shaving Cream in a Bowl. I prefer the TOBS cream, but I don't mind this one at all. The ingredients seem to be natural (as stated), and the smell is mild and unobtrusive- I like it, but it is not really noticeable either way. I pre-soak the soap (as well as my badger brush) for a few minutes prior to shaving, and that makes a big difference! It lathers okay, but does require a little more effort than the shaving cream by TOBS. I would use it again, but prefer the shaving cream.

Old Fashioned is Best
I would've thought that using shaving soap, a brush and a shaving mug would be very affectatious. But, by golly, I actually get a closer, longer-lasting shave using this old-fashioned method and it doesn't take too much extra time. I was developing a rash and experiencing a lot of discomfort with an electric razor or shaving cream, but with this Edwin Jagger organic sandalwood shaving soap, the rash has all but disappeared. I like sandalwood, and a search on Amazon produced this soap. I also purchased a Tweezerman brush and a Col. Ichabod Conk apothecary shaving mug at the same time. So far, I am imminently satisfied with this purchase. The bathroom smells good, too!

A very nice soap for a good clean shave.
This soap has a great subtle fragrance, lubricates the skin nicely for a comfortable shave and provides a rich lather without melting away. The rinse is fast as well, you won't be left with an irritating soapy residue. The only thing I'd change about it would be to make it a wider disk to fit my mug better. Then it'd be perfect. Otherwise I'm very happy with this product and I'll continue using it.

Really does not lather up much at all
I bought this sandalwood shaving puck about 3 months ago and have used it daily-very nice scent but unusually difficult to get a good lather with this soap- I do use a correct metal bowl and a nice badger shaving brush but get very minimum lather using this brand of soap-Just ordered another brand of shaving soap puck and much better lather -this other brand uses some shea soap and other ingredients - Hope that Edwin Jagger will look into tweaking their formula their brand of sandalwood soap produces very little lather

Not worth it
Not a good value as it's a very small puck for the money. There is practically no scent and it takes some time to work up a lather. The soap is very sensitive to the amount of water used - you need to be very sparing to get a thick, rich lather without too many large bubbles. Once a good lather is achieved, it's just OK, not particularly slick or better than any number of far less expensive (Van Der Hagen) alternatives.

Great stuff for a luxurious shave
I bought a cake of Edwin Jagger shaving soap last month when I was unable to find shaving soap in any of the local Walmarts or pharmacies. I've been using a brush and mug for shaving for 30 years and was not about to go back to an aerosol can of cold foam. Mostly, I've been using a cheap brand like Williams. The Edwin Jagger soap is substantially more expensive than the $1.58 Williams soap, but it turns out that you really do get what you pay for. The Edwin Jagger soap is much richer and more fragrant and is a real pleasure to use. Treat yourself to something better and try this stuff.

I like this shaving soap. It lathers quickly and thickly. It give a nice smooth glide as long as the razor head is wet. If it's dry then doesn't fell as well lubricated. It has minimal fragrance to it. If your looking for something that really smells great, this probably isn't what your looking for. But, it does smell good, just not super strong.

After years of gel-can shaving, I decided to try shaving soaps and a double-edge razor. I'm impressed. Admittedly, it does take a bit of trial and error to get the proper amount of soap and water on the brush, but when that's achieved, what a great shave. This Jagger soap provided excellent lubrication and made the process quite enjoyable. I'm actually looking forward to my next shave tomorrow morning. Plus, I love the Sandalwood aroma.
