Good for removing sebum buildup
I don't have dry, flaky dandruff. Instead, I get a buildup of greasy sebum on my scalp. This LAKMÉ Teknia Scalp Care Detox Gel is really good for that. It contains lactic acid to dissolve dead cells, and it's gritty enough to break up the sebum a bit, but without making my scalp feel scrubbed. I'm not a big fan of the menthol and alcohol, though, as I just don't like menthol on my scalp in general, and they both promote dryness, which can exacerbate dry, flaky type dandruff. I'd recommend using it for oily dandruff, like mine, not dry and flaky dandruff.

Decent but not mind blowing
This is a pretty decent scalp cleanser! The best part is the applicator. The tip is small and can reach your scalp directly and you can control how much product you apply. I have paste type scalp scrubs that are fabulous but I find I end up wasting it on my hair when trying to reach my scalp. I apply this and then use my fingers to rub it in. Leave it on for 10 minutes then proceed with my normal shampoo and conditioner. It's pretty gentle and doesn't have large scrubby particles but does a decent job of clarifying the scalp. But at the price, I expected more clarification power. I had to use a clarifying shampoo afterwards to really feel like my scalp was clean. I use a fair amount of hair products and dry shampoo so I really needed strong cleansing power. It does help extend the days between hair washes which I appreciate. All in all, it's decent, but I'm not sure I'd repurchase it for the price.

Scrubbing gel for dandruff
This is a scrub gel that concentrates on dandruff. I have average thickness hair with curls and suffer from dandruff. My scalp has always been flakey. I wanted to give this a try as I have never done a scrub gel before. Per the directions, I applied it to my dry scalp and massaged it in well. It has to be left in for 10 minutes before being washed out. I think this is key part for it to work. I tried rushing it one day, and I didn't feel like my scalp was as clear as the other days. I recommend setting a timer to ensure it is on the scalp for at least 10 minutes. After, wash out with shampoo. I also think another key piece is to make sure you wash it out well because that is what is removing the flakes and refreshing the scalp. It is a smaller container at 5.1 ounces. I don't use much each time and that will stretch out how long the bottle of scrub gel will last me. It is made in Spain and is a vegan formula. Overall, it works well. I feel my scalp is refreshed after use as it does pull out a lot of the flakes. It is important to follow the directions for its ultimate effects. I have found it to be a nice addition to my hair care routine.

LAKME Teknia Scalp Care Detox Balance Detoxifying Scrub Gel
This dandruff scrub gel has a fairly natural scent and is 96% derived from natural ingredients, although it does contain added fragrance. I like that the exfoliant it contains is perlite, derived from volcanic rock and not microplastics. The gel is to be applied to dry hair and scalp for at least 10 minutes before washing hair. It gives my scalp a cool, refreshing feel, but it doesn't feel or smell as strong as mentholated products. The directions don't say how often to use it, so I will stick to using it around once a week since it contains an exfoliant and I don't want to irritate my scalp. It has thoughtful ingredients to help make the scalp healthy such as bacillus ferment, but I personally find more noticable results with this company's Scalp Care Relief Soothing Serum.

Invigorating Scalp Scrub With a Cooling Menthol Feel
I've been noticing a few flakes in my hair lately and I usually like to address dandruff as soon as I notice it so things like my black shirts don't become unsightly. I've been wanting to try something other than traditional dandruff shampoos to see whether another type of product might help keep things under control. I ordered this "Teknia Scalp Care Detox Balance Detoxifying Scrub Gel, Scalp Scrub for Dandruff" by LAKMÉ hoping it might help. I'd never tried a scalp exfoliant before and was curious what it would be like because I really enjoy exfoliating products for my face and body. When the scrub arrived, I couldn't find a manufacture or expiration date on the bottle. It's labeled as made in Spain. The bottle is plastic and the applicator has a pointed tip which makes applying the gel directly to the scalp pretty easy. I have very long, thick hair so that applicator design worked especially well for me. I'm fragrance sensitive and one of the listed ingredients is simply "fragrance," which is always a wildcard for me because it doesn't really explain the scent profile. This also contains menthol and lemon, neither of which usually cause issues for me. I can definitely smell both the menthol and citrus notes and together they remind me a little of a household cleaner. The scent isn't overly strong though, so I was still interested in trying it. The gel itself is a little grainy and gritty. It almost felt like a tiny bit of sand had been mixed into the gel. I applied a few dollops around my hairline and crown, then massaged it into my scalp. The instructions say to leave it on for 10 mins before shampooing. At first I didn't really notice much, but after about two or three mins my scalp started feeling really fresh, cool, and invigorated. It reminded me of the first time I used peppermint castile soap. Even after washing my hair, my scalp still felt especially fresh and clean. I wash my hair every other day and have only used the scrub once so far, so it's too soon to know whether it'll actually help resolve my dandruff long term. What I can say is that I really like how it leaves my scalp feeling. It feels deeply clean and very refreshing. At the time of my order, 5oz costs $47 which definitely puts this into a premium haircare price range. That said, I've never used a scalp product that left my scalp feeling this fresh and invigorated. I can't speak to whether it'll resolve my flakes yet, but if it's comfortably within your budget, this feels like a really nice scalp treatment.

Gentle exfoliation
This is a great option for people with sensitive scalps that need a little scalp refresh. Healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp and this is a great product that provides both gentle physical and chemical exfoliation to remove product buildup from around the hair follicles. It has a thin gel texture that's very easy to apply in specific areas thanks to the thin nozzle top. I like to apply a decent amount of the gel all over my head and massage it around before letting it sit for a few minutes. It's easy to rinse off and I don't find that this causes any skin irritation. Admittedly, it's a little pricey but if you struggle with a sensitive or congested scalp, it's probably worth the money I definitely appreciate the outcome.

Refreshing scalp treatment, but awkward to apply
This scalp scrub is interesting and does leave the scalp feeling cleaner and refreshed, but the application is a little odd. Since it has more of a paste or scrub type consistency, it can be awkward to get directly onto the scalp instead of just ending up in the hair. The pointed applicator helps some, but you still have to work it in carefully. The main downside is that it is not as simple to use as a shampoo or liquid scalp treatment. You have to apply it intentionally, massage it in, let it sit, and rinse well. For the price, I would expect it to be a little easier to work through the scalp. It seems to work well overall and I will use it occasionally. Overall, it is a solid scalp treatment if you do not mind the extra step, but the texture makes it less convenient than I expected.

Easy scalp refresh, miles better than the paste detox scrubs!
I like this so much better than the scalp scrub pastes that I’ve used before! This is a thinner gel in a bottle with a pointed tip so it’s really easy to direct it right at your scalp and not waste a bunch all over your hair where it’s not needed. You put it on dry hair, massage it in and wait 10 minutes before rinsing and washing. I found I only needed to wash once instead of double cleansing my hair. My scalp felt so refreshed and clean! I had used a lot of powdery dry shampoo the day before too and it made my scalp feel so clean afterwards. It has a bit of a medicinal smell and maybe a slight cooling feel but it’s so quick and easy when you need a real scalp reset but don’t want to spend the time scrubbing with a paste in the shower. Gentle relief of flakes
I’m getting flakes on my head because of topical minoxidil liquid which makes my head itchy and dry. This provided nice sensation and a bit of relief. I will continue to have flakes as long as I continue to use liquid minoxidil for hair loss but I will continue to use this product to help with the flakes that the product produces. This product is VERY expensive in my opinion for just 5.1 oz of product, but it’s made in Spain, and if you apply it the same way you apply minoxidil (basically separate your hair out and apply it directly on the scalp), it can provide a nice luxurious experience with a gentle relief. I gave it 5 stars even though I think it’s expensive because I really liked using it for my scalp.

My scalp has never felt cleaner
This detox gel was the hair product I didn’t know I needed. My scalp felt so clean and hydrated after use, and my hair felt more voluminous at the roots as well. I have well water and worry about buildup with it, and I felt like this took that all away. Fragrance for me was a little strong, but for how effective this was, I was good with it. It’s more of a splurge for this product, but it works so well and I need to use it so infrequently that I did not mind at all.

Adore it
I've used LAKMÉ products for a while now and not once have they let me down. While I don't believe in the whole "detox" idea, I still love this stuff. My hairline can get weirdly dry and flakey which is annoying so having an actual scrub meant for that purpose seemed great. I didn't need much since I don't need it across my entire scalp, if you have thick hair it might be harder to apply. Massaged it in and let it do its thing, rinsed out quite easily for me after the fact but I also did use it before shampooing ultimately. Hairline looked fantastic after!! It does have a hefty price tag, but it's part of the brand and for me it's worth it. Nice to not have to worry about weird flaking throughout the day!!

My scalp feels CLEAN clean after this
If my scalp ever thought about having dandruff again, I think this scrub gel has scared it straight without any chance of misbehaving. When I say my scalp felt exfoliated after this, not many sugar or salt scrubs for my face or body have managed to make me feel more scrubbed clean than this gel! though it didn't cause any discomfort or damage, it definitely left me feeling tingly and spotless afterwards, like any dead skin on my scalp had been zapped off. It did make me a little greasy after the treatment from my scalp trying to catch back up from the treatment but it's definitely great for removing residue of hair products for me too!

Works On Your Scalp Before You Work On Your Hair
Guess that I should first mention that, fortunately, I do not suffer from dandruff. Although, I've found that I love using a good scalp treatment because it just helps to fully clean and condition my scalp in a manner that shampoo alone cannot do. Sometimes I do, oddly enough, suffer from both oily and a dry itchy scalp all at the same time. Something that I've yet to understand. A good scalp conditioner helps to address both issues, as this one does. I also have very thin, fine hair, so I need to allow for my scalp to be oxygenated and as clear as possible to help encourage hair growth and to protect the hair that I do have. Good scalp health is essential for me. Usually I use products meant for treating the scalp during the process of shampooing and conditioning my hair. This product is used right before you wash your hair. I like the pointed top that allows you to target specific areas if you need to concentrate on very specific parts of your scalp. For me, I mostly work around the top, but actually use over my entire head. Ideally, you work this over the scalp, as opposed to within the hair itself. Of course, your hair will also get this which is fine. The substance itself has a bit of a odd feeling. Sort of feels like a thin honey that contains a few crystalized pieces. Not a lot, but you can feel a little of the grittiness as you work this into your scalp. No doubt they help to lift and scrub away dead skin cells and other gunk that sit along your scalp. You do let it sit for a good 10 minutes or so so that whatever is in this stuff has a chance to get in and dissolve what needs to be removed. That's part of the detoxification process. Felt a little messy, but that's to be expected. Not a big deal because it gets shampooed out very soon anyway. Very easy to shampoo out of the hair when the time comes. No strong funky scents to have to contend with either. Honestly, after all is said and done and my hair has been treated, shampooed and conditioned, I can't tell a big difference. Maybe it's because I'm using decent enough shampoos and conditioners that tend to take care of any of my problems. I do like this hair scrubbing gel and have found absolutely no negative effects from this. Does not dry out the scalp nor cause any irritations. I'm sure that it just boosts my shampoo up when it comes to fully cleaning my hair and scalp. My hair was manageable and well cleaned. Maybe my conditions are just not severe enough to notice a difference, but I suspect that those who do have more severe cases will highly benefit from this scalp scrub.
