If you celebrate your natural hair
I have what's called a "serious Kitchen": a head full of crazy hair when it's all brushed out. Janis Joplin ain't got nothing on me. I've been using this Paul Mitchell gel for ions. The result? Before = Brillo pad torn up. After = soft ringlets. It's a runny product. What I do is condition, condition and condition my hair. Wait. The Paul Mitchell goes on last. Wrap in a towel or one of those hair-drying turban things. Never use a dryer, and twist as it dries. If you have curly/kinky/kitchen hair, this product is the only one that beats the humidity of the coastal American south. Also, in between washes (once a week) and conditioning (2x a week), you can take a quarter-size smidgen of this product to tame the frizz from the humidity. Depending on how long your hair is, the only caveat is that (for me, anyway -- my hair is long & coarse) it can take up to a day to fully dry. And never go to bed with a wet head! If you can sleep, you'll need to get a pillow protector.

Excellent for waves and curls.
This works great on wavy/curly hair. Like so many other folks with curly hair, I have struggled all my life to tame the frizz and define my 2c/3a curls. This is the best product I've found. It's very lightweight and doesn't leave any sort of residue or greasiness like so many other products do. It creates soft, flexible waves and curls with no "crunch." There is a slight fragrance, but it's pleasant, not overwhelming. I highly recommend trying this if you still haven't found the right product for your curls.

This works excellent for my slightly over 50 curly hair🎀. I have been using this for the last 15 years and they have changed the bottle a few times and this bottle is new but is the same. You don’t need to use a lot to get the shine. It holds my curls, nice and tight.🥳🎉. I am very sensitive to smells and the smell does not bother me and never has. It is not overpowering, as a matter of fact, I think it used to actually smell like green apples. I love this big bottle-lasts me around 6 months,maybe a little more-or less. You don’t need alot and if you feel your hair gets crunchy, then you’ve used too much. This is and will always be my go to hair gel. I don’t know what I would do if they discontinued it😡LOL

Update: This creates alot of product build up on us. I need to use a clarifying shampoo mid week because it's hard to get all the old gel out in the shower. Me and my daughter have really thick hair so maybe that's why it's hard to get it all out. Great for curly hair girls. Can get "crispy " if you apply to much. My daughter likes to apply it when her hair is still very wet then let's it air dry. Then she fluffs it up gently. One negative is that it will flake if you mess with your hair alot through the day. It looks like dandruff. So she doesn't touch her hair much after it has dried.

Love this gel, I used to use it years ago when I had a perm and it kept my curls. It gets crunchy when dried, then I can just run finger through hair to loosen up just a little bit, but to keep the shine. It helps with dry looking hair ends.

Not happy
Package came laying down in box and was leaking out. The bottle was not sealed inside and the top was loose. It was enclosed in plastic wrap but since it was leaking it melted through. Love the product but not the way it was packaged for delivery.

Great Hold, shine, no crunchiness. Everything it promises to be!
Some reviewers have said this is too thick or tooSome reviewers have said this is too thick or makes hair too crunchy. I suspect they’ve used too much. I have chin-length hair, and I use a glob maybe the size of an almond, and rub it between my hands before applying it. I sometimes wet my hands first. But I would not say my hair feels crunchy afterwards. About hold: One day, I was out in 25-30 mph wind, with gusts up to 47 mph. My hair blew all over the place! But when I went inside, my hair mostly when back to where it belonged, with a little help from fingers. That’s all. It didn’t look quite as great as it did in the morning, but it was very good. Shine? Yes, got that too. I strongly recommend this product.

Did Nothing
This did nothing at all for my hair. Actually it made it where it did not hold the curl. When you removed the roller it was not even a curl of any kind. My hair is supper soft and thin but I have a lot of it. If you were outside and it was damp it could be sticky. It came packaged well but I did return
