Unnecessary Strong Floral Scent; Does Have Beneficial Ingredients
Packaging, Texture, Smell, and Use: The Skin House Snail Mucin 5000 Ampoule comes in a 1oz frosted glass dropper for ~$16 (at the point of purchase). Inexpensive, simple, made in Korea. Very watery, lightweight, slightly off-yellow, otherwise clear serum. It does have added fragrance, which is very strong and floral. It absorbs quickly and does not leave a sticky residue. When to use it? This serum/ampoule would be applied after washing and toning (am or pm or both) but before heavier skincare products like lotions and creams. Ingredient Highlights: Snail Mucin (Snail Secretion Filtrate) Snail mucin is very popular in K-beauty. Korean brands love the ingredient and tout it for its miraculous repair and hydration properties. It claims to be able to repair everything from dry patches, acne breakouts to signs of aging. Snail mucin (the slime snails secrete) is a complex mixture of proteoglycans, glycosaminoglycans, glycoprotein enzymes, hyaluronic acid, copper peptides, antimicrobial peptides, and trace elements including copper, zinc, and iron. It is important to note that just because snail slime is all-natural does not mean it will be suitable for everyone. I do know people who can't tolerate the use and who do break out because of it. So patch test anything with snail mucin on your neck or back to check for adverse reactions first. Adenosine Adenosine is an amino acid, one of the building blocks of hair keratin and skin collagen. Cosmetically, it is beneficial for its natural moisturizing factors and is considered a skin-identical ingredient. Green Tea (Camellia Sinesis Leaf Extract) Green tea naturally has polyphenols (EGCG), which are beneficial to the skin and act as an antioxidant. It is also a soothing anti-inflammatory. Hyaluronic Acid (sodium hyaluronate) HA is essentially a moisture enhancer/humectant. Sodium hyaluronate is the salt form of hyaluronic acid and is a water-soluble salt that holds 1000 times its weight in water. This ingredient can enter the deep layers of your skin. Here, it attracts moisture, drawing moisture in, and reduces inflammation. It is non-comedogenic. Ingredient Lows: Alcohol Alcohol (ethanol) is a controversial ingredient. It has many instant benefits: an excellent solvent, penetration enhancer, creates cosmetically elegant, light formulas, an astringent, and antimicrobial. The downside is that it can be very drying if it's in the first few ingredients on an ingredient list. Hydrolyzed Collagen (not really a low) but the term can be misleading to consumers. Collagen makes up ~75% of our skin's dry weight, giving it volume, plumpness. As we age, we break down more and more collagen, losing it faster than naturally making it. This loss begins in your mid-20's, falling about 1% per year. By menopause, for women, we can see as much as a 30% loss. Hence the unpleasant sagging, dullness, and wrinkling of our complexion. This ongoing loss of collagen can also impact the health and appearance of our hair and nails. Topical collagen applications are not nearly as practical at helping restore lost collagen because (hydrolyzed) collagen molecules are too large to penetrate. Some skincare products touting this fountain of youth because they have collagen in the formula can be misleading as it will only help moisturize the skin, and that's about the extent of what it will do. Added Fragrance Depending on what is used to create the odor, it can be sensitizing to the skin and cause unnecessary irritation to an otherwise well-formulated skincare product. Those with sensitive skin or scent-sensitive might want to avoid this serum as the scent is strong. Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Sodium Hyaluronate (HA), Snail Secretion Filtrate (snail mucin), Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Betaine, Alcohol, 1,2-Hexanediol, PPG-26-Buteth-26, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Arginine, Squalane, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract (green tea), Hydrolyzed Collagen, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Sodium Citrate, Glyceryl Acrylate/Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Propylene Glycol, PVM/MA Copolymer, Carbomer, Xanthan GUM, Solanum Lycopersicum (Tomato) Fruit Extract, Paeonia Lactiora Extract, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Myrciaria Dubia Fruit Extract, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract, Ardisia Crispa Extract, Rubus Coreanus Fruit Extract, Phellinus Linteus Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Nelumbium Speciosum Flower Extract, Citric Acid, Adenosine, Disodium EDTA, Panax Ginseng Callus Culture Extract, Phaseolus Radiatus Meristem Cell Culture Extract, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance (Parfum), Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Extract Is this Skin House Snail Mucin 5000 Amoule worth it? It is a fairly inexpensive Korean skincare product. It does have a lot of skin-friendly ingredients. And while the added scent and presence of alcohol are disappointing, I'd give it a 4 out of 5. If they nixed these two offenders, I'd bump it up. Also, I'm not sure what the 5000 is supposed to indicate or represent in this product? Otherwise, it has a lovely texture and spreadability and does seem to have some beneficial applications for those with acne-prone skin. Assuming you are not allergic or sensitive to snail mucin, this ampoule is worth trying. It won't turn back the hands of time, but I can see this being hydrating and nourishing.

This Snail Mucin Ampoule from The Skin House is everything I want in a serum. It gives me the most dewy, radiant, glowing complexion! It's so good that I'm placing it in one of my top three K-beauty finds on Amazon! For starters, let me tell you about my skin: • Combination w/ some Dehydration (Extremely dry everywhere, except my T-zone) • Highly sensitive & Product reactive • Acne Prone w/ some scarring & Hyperpigmentation (PIH) • Mature skin (over 40) My skincare routine is centered around hydration, with a strong focus on keeping acne breakouts at bay. Because my skin is sensitive and product reactive, I excercise caution with each new item I want to add to my routine and always patch test. I experienced no adverse effects whatsoever, during my 48 hr sampling (and beyond!) using this serum. There is some fragrance, but it's ever so slight - it's light, clean, fresh, and very subtle. It has an aroma of wild honeysuckle, which I find very pleasant. The smell dissipates immediately after application. (Skincare is definitely considered a sensorial experience in K-beauty, so fragrant essences are often used in product formulations.) Given my skin's tendencies to react to scented products, I'm happy to report I haven't had any sensitivity or adverse reactions to the fragrance in this serum. The product comes safety sealed, which I truly appreciate. I love this snail mucin because it isn't thick & sticky, isn't heavy nor greasy, it sinks into the skin (instead of just sitting on top), and it provides a major dose of much needed hydration. It actually feels more like a watery essence in that it's very fluid. It absorbs into the skin quickly and completely. There's a slew of good-for-you ingredients in this ampoule and it plays well with all of the other products I use in my nightly routine. I've only just begun with this bottle, so long term results (as far as anti-aging claims are concerned) still remain to be seen. All I know at this point, is that my skin feels soft & supple, deeply hydrated, and my dry patches have almost disappeared... with no additional acne breakouts! I consider that a victory, in itself. I am excited to continue using this to see exactly what else unfolds (like maybe my wrinkles? haha) but I am thoroughly impressed with how much my skin has improved so far. It's dewy, radiant and glowing - and for that reason alone this snail mucin serum is now a Holy Grail product for me! 10/10 recommend and I will definitely repurchase!

WONDER SERUM 🐌
Seriously deserves 10 stars!! ⭐️ I wasn’t expecting much beyond hydration from the serum, which is the primary benefit I get from snail serums. But literally after ONE week of using this every day, my skin was clear and GLOWING! I had been breaking out before I started using this, and not only did this help clear my active breakouts but it helped fade my post acne marks too. A Protective Elastic Layer
If someone would have told me that one day I would intentionally apply a layer of snail mucin over my face, I would have thought that they were out of their mind. Well, the joke would have been on me. I don't know how they do this but this is a pretty good layer of protection to apply over your skin before you continue with whatever your other moisturizers of choice might be. I could feel a very thin layer building over my face of what felt almost like an extra fine elastic plastic with a whole lot of give. It absorbs fast yet still seems to sit on the skin to almost create a superfine mask. My skin felt good and protected. There was very little, if any, scent to speak of and is pleasant. It dries fast. You don't have to wait long at all to go ahead with your next layer of skincare. All day, my skin feels both firmer as well as smoother. The price is a tad high, but as far as skincare products go, it's not really all that bad. I wonder how many snails it takes to fill up one bottle? As much as I really like this serum and will definitely use it again, I've got this feeling that I'll be dreaming of snails crawling all over my face, like barnacles. That's okay, as long as they leave their little snail slime behind. Escargot anyone?

Snail mucin serum
Every time i think of snails. I think of the way the slide down the path leaving silvery trail. If their mucus is good enough to protect their tiny body from scratching on the rough surfaces then it is perfect for the skin protection and moisturizing when applied on the human skin. I do not know the exact chemical compound of the snail mucus but I do know that after using the serum, my skin is soft. This is a nice addition to my ever growing regiment for facial skin care.

Thin, but Benefits
Very thin serum , without a big slime factor for a snail mucin product. I have to be honest, that though I use quite a few of snail mucin produsts, I have never used a straight snail mucin serum , so maybe the thinness is to be expected. Under a dropper full covers my face, neck , and chest. Ultra gentle, my skin drinks most in, though the barrier can be felt. I used in place of my snail essence after toning , and did not miss the essence at all. Works well with other serums, and moisturizers. I like the idea of a powerful shot of snail mucin, and I can either use other SM products with it, or use my other serums that do not include SM. I recommend this to SM lovers and users, K Beauty enthusiasts and beginners, for those who want to use SM products, but the "slime" put them off.

Snail mucin works best when sandwiched between toner and moisturizer
Snail mucin is rich in Growth Factors which help with wound healing. This is great for all skin types, especially acne-prone skin. Snail mucin also contains the skin conditioning agent Allantoin. This will help reduce skin scarring. Allantoin is actually approved by the FDA to be used topically to reduce scars. Snail mucin contains Glycolic Acid which is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA). AHAs are great for cell turnover and anti-aging. It will also be great for acne-prone skin! The Skin House suggests using a few layers of the ampoule after toner. The ampoule is thin enough to penetrate the skin deeply, and it won't feel heavy on the skin. I don't have any active acne, so I can't say that it will for sure clear up your skin. It is a great product to use long term, and it will give your complexion a major boost!

Wrinkles, dark spots, and general facial problem areas
So I love snail mucin. I found it a few years ago and have found that its just wonderful. I found that with this on you need to apply a few times through out the day to keep that softer skin. I looked at the website details and they recommend applying 'several times' a day. I would prefer a longer lasting product. Now it is supposed to minimize signs of fine wrinkles, dark spots, fine lines, and general sagginess. Snail mucin really helps to protect the skin from moisture loss while improving skin elasticity. Adenosine has proven through testing that it has anti-wrinkle benefits. Now hyaluronic acid intensely hydrates and moisturizes the skin. I am using it three times a day. My skin soaks it in but I wish it lasted just a bit longer.

Easy to spread, offers long-term hydration.
Both my wifey and I are really enjoying and loving the Skin House Snail Mucin 5000 face serum. Where we live, it's cold, dry, and windy and it's been a challenge keeping our faces and hands moist and supple. This serum comes out of a dropper and the product is watery but not very much so. As a result, the serum spreads easily and your finger smoothly glides across the face as it gets spread around and patted in. Upon application, my face feels immediately wet and looks a bit glossy. However, the product gets absorbed relatively quickly and the shininess goes away, leaving behind soft and plump-feeling skin. Coupled with my usual face cream, the long-term hydration offered by this serum is truly great. At just $15.65 (as of 2021-01-23) for a 30 ml bottle, I think the value is excellent and we'll definitely keep on buying this. 5 stars. 👍

This is really nice to use in the morning or at night. It doesn't have a smell that I could detect and it feels so moisturizing on my skin, mind you, I still use face lotion before putting this on. It's sheer and the bottle has a seal sticker, which is awesome. I put mine in the fridge so it's a bit cooling.

Slimy, but my skin likes it
Yeah, it's slimy feeling. Once you get over the idea of putting snail slime on your face, you'll probably like the stuff. It's supposed to be fantastic for wrinkles/anti-aging. In the long term it may be, but in a few weeks using it, I'm not seeing my existing wrinkles changed by it. What it does do really well though is help my skin hold moisture. I always use a moisturizer after my serum application, but this stuff is making my moisturizer last longer. Its really dry this time of year and I feel like I'm constantly applying moisturizer somewhere. My face though, is staying moisturized all day since I started using Snail Mucin 5000. My face is the only part of my skin that doesn't feel dried out this winter. That alone is a win for me.

Best snail mucin I've tried out of the bunch
I love this stuff. This mucin is in serum form and only requires a few drops to really coat your face and give yourself a treat. There is barely a scent which is greatly appreciated as the other muscin products have a heavy indescribable scent that I now negatively associate with snails. Keep in mind this product also contains hyaluronic acid, so make sure you follow up with a moisturizer or this product can potentially dry out your face. The instructions for this product (listed here on Amazon) also recommend to do that, however the translation is poor and hard to comprehend.

This Skin House ampoule comes in a frosted glass bottle with a safety seal and the expiration date printed on the bottle (July 20, 2023). Thumbs up for that... I wish it was mandatory for all beauty products. Snail mucin helps protect the skin from moisture loss while improving skin elasticity. This serum is pale beige with the consistency of water. it has no scent and is easy to apply on a clean skin. It dries quickly and leaves my skin soft and smooth. A little bit goes a long way on me.
I did have a few reservations about using snail mucin on my face. [THE SKIN HOUSE] Snail Mucin 5000 Ampoule, is a generous portion of snail mucin, affordable, and wasn't sticky or slimy , in the least. It was more watery than thick, went on smoothly. While I didn't have an overnight miracle, I noticed my skin felt a little smoother. No one ELSE noticed, but I did. I have combination skin, with the dry areas being very dry, but I had no peeling or redness. A little bit goes a long way on me. Perhaps, I'll have more noticeable results when I use all of the product.

Good Hydration
This was my first experience with a snail mucin product. It sounded a little gross to me, but I've seen some good reviews of snail products and thought I'd give it a try. It actually does a really good job of locking in moisture. I use it right after showering and my face looks fresh and hydrated all day. I can't really say I've noticed a difference with wrinkles yet. They look less noticeable right after using the serum, but the anti-wrinkling effects aren't long-lasting. That could change, though, because you need to give any product at least one to three months to start seeing results. I'll stick with this for awhile and see what happens.

Actually worked to reduce my small forehead wrinkles
[THE SKIN HOUSE] Snail Mucin 5000 Ampoule (1.01 fl oz/30ml) - Anti wrinkle, anti aging, nourishing, moisturizing, skin elasticity essence, firming, rejuvenating ampoule This was my first snail mucin product. I added this to my night routine, after my toner and before my moisturizer. The texture is very water like, and not sticky at all. Seems to absorb in very well. I woke up the next day and I was genuinely surprised. My small wrinkles on my forehead was invisible. My forehead looked like when I was in high school. I was in awe. I washed my face, and went through my normal skin care, and some of the wrinkles came back. So I can’t say that it’s a permanent change, but it does help.

Decent serum
I've tried many snail serums over the years. This one is decent, falls in the middle of the road. I have tried others that are much better. But the price on those is way too high for me. This does hydrate the skin. You don't have to use a lot. I tend to use this after i've done a clay mask to help put moisture back into my skin. I don't use it daily. So far I haven't had any bad side affects from using this.

Add to your regular skin care
This serum is pretty sheer but it has a tendency to feel a bit sticky. It is light weight and can be easily added to your regular skin care but I am not sure how moisturizing it is. After using it for about a week and a half I didn’t really see a difference in my skin texture. I’ll use it up but I am not sure if I got any benefit from it.

Layering issue
I wanted to love [THE SKIN HOUSE] Snail Mucin 5000 Ampoule (1.01 fl oz/30ml) - Anti wrinkle, anti aging, nourishing, moisturizing, skin elasticity essence, firming, rejuvenating ampoule, because I like the brand and I like snail mucin as an ingredient. Unfortunately, I had a layering issue with this product. I don't know if it was doubling up on snail mucin or the citric acid, but this ampoule burned with every one of my moisturizers that I tried, even if I waited over a quarter hour to apply moisturizer. This ampoule feels nice when I initially put it on, but it just doesn't work with my other products.

Sticky And Irritating My Sensitive Skin
I have very sensitive skin. Unfortunately, this seems to irritate my skin to the point where my face becomes very itchy. It does seem to hydrate well, but it is also very sticky compared to other things I've tried. I would love to keep using this product, but it makes my skin far too irritated.

Made my face irritated
I have used other small mucin products without issue, but this one makes my face turn horribly red. I don't know what is in this brand that causes the reaction. So, this product is not for me. The other snail products I have tried work wonders on my skin.
