Works Well but with Caveats
So here's the deal. I've tried many different formulas of pomades over the last several years ranging from traditional, wax-based, to the more common water-based and clay-based pomades. I wanted to find something that offered a medium to firm hold without a lot of shine. This product from Uppercut states that is what it will do, and it does. However, here are some things to be aware of before you buy/use this pomade: Texture-wise, it is very light and creamy and spreads though hands and hair fairly easy. However, once the product gets into your hair, it begins to set very quickly and leaves little room for re-working after the initial application (perhaps one area where the original Uppercut Deluxe pomade delivers better). Unless you apply this to wet or slightly damp hair, be prepared for some fly-away hairs and a tougher time shaping or combing your desired hairstyle. You don't need much to apply it decently, so that's good in the sense that you shouldn't go through the tin quickly if you use it on a daily basis. If you have longer or thicker hair than mine, your findings may be different and you'll probably need more product. As for the product smell, it is a creme brulee scent, so if you don't enjoy that overly sweet scent, you may not be a fan. Once it's in your hair, the smell isn't as noticeable though. Regarding the strength of the hold, I'd say it's very much borderline medium to firm hold. Unless you apply a light dusting of hairspray afterward like I do, you may want something with a stronger hold such as the Uppercut Monster Hold or Baxter's matte clay pomade. I'll also say that if you are one to re-style or run your fingers through your hair throughout the day as I do sometimes, the hold is not as strong and eventually your hair will begin to shift/lay more naturally on your head, which is good if you want that 90s, floppy/unstyled hair look. It is a matte finish as advertised, so the shine is also minimal unless you're applying to damp hair. The stuff also washes pretty easy off your hands and out of your hair with a shower, so I had no issues there. So overall, the product works as advertised but you may need to adjust your finishing techniques or expectations to use it in the long term.

Decent pomade with good hold, but ultimately falls short due to the texture it leaves my hair.
I bought Uppercut's matte pomade to see if it was a more affordable alternative to my main matte pomade. Unfortunately, the texture it leaves my hair is hard to overlook. The Good: * The consistency of the pomade is creamy, which I found pleasant and easy to work with. * Hold is adequate, but if I'm being nit picky, it could be a smidge stronger. * Washing the product out is easy and didn't leave any noticeable residue. Neutral: * The scent reminds me of candy, which I neither love or hate. I'm just not sure I want to smell like candy everyday. The Bad: * The texture of the product in my hair is where it falls apart for me. It feels like a lightweight gel in my hair, has a little crunch to it. To be fair, you can work out that crunchy feel after it sets, but I found the more I worked out the crunch, the tackier my hair felt, which I did not like. I think this is a decent pomade, but if you are looking for a natural feel and a bit more pliability in your hair, you'll likely be disappointed with this pomade.

My favorite so far, except the smell
My favorite pomade so far. I have thick coarse hair and style in modified pompadour. I've used many different expensive pomades, but I was looking for a matte pomade that didn't have such a shiney, crusty look, but with high control. I don't care for the coffee smell on application, but fades quickly. No one has commented on the scent throughout the day (I.e. wife). My favorite about this formula: I can usually finger comb my hair back into shape the next day without more product, only a little water. I also like how little it takes to achieve high control. I apply with damp hair, let it dry for a few minutes, and I can then tame my pomp into any shape I want. Great product! I use it on my boys' thick hair too and it works great. Good bye glossy crusty pomades!

Black Spots Are Normal
If there are black spots in your pomade, it’s not mold. It is the coffee infusion and it smells amazing. After trying dozens of matte pomades, this one is the best by far. Great hold, great smell, nice matte finish, amazing value.

My hair didn't ask for much. This delivered everything.

I've tried other things in weak moments, the way you might try a different coffee shop just to remember why you have a regular coffee shop. The results were humbling. At 3.5 oz it fits in a bag, looks good on a bathroom shelf, and smells like a man who has his life together. Whether or not the rest of your life reflects that is between you and whoever's asking. Ten out of ten. Don't switch.

I really enjoy this product, it has a strong hold and doesn't lose its form throughout the day. I will say when it comes to washing your hair it is a challenge. It takes a lot of soap and work to make your hair feel like its free of it. Not a huge issue but defiantly noticeable.

The quality has declined over the last few years.

Awesome pomade especially for ones with thin and flexible hair
I like to mix this with the regular pomade. First work in the regular and finish it off with a bit of this product. Leaves my hair in a sort of mild satin and soft finish. Best thing about it is that it holds the hair in place while leaving it soft! The regular pomade usually makes my hair a bit semi-hard. Not that I mind but having soft hair is always a plus with the ladies. And my hair is thick and a total mix of fine, course, steel wool hair! lol It's not easy to find products that I can work with so it stays slicked back. Love Uppercut. If you have hair like mine, use UPPERCUT and be generous with the amounts.Also remember to comb the product in to the hair but you should know that already . Like it better than Suavecito's. Has a bit of a coffee/cappuccino scent.....it is coffee colored lol. They didn't over do it with the scent, just enough.

Once I was introduced to this pomade 7 years ago by a barber in Europe ive never felt the need to look for something else. I have wavy hair and keep a short fade crop/length on top. From a Great Company, a meh product
I usually love uppercut products. This one however was a bit of a miss. The scent is very nice but the hold is weaker than expected and it is extra hard to wash out. I have to see double the shampoo just to get my hair clean. Overall, not terrible but not great for my thicker hair like their other products.

Yuck
If I wanted my hair to smell like I haven't bathed, I would go camping for two weeks and let all my clothes get sweaty and stale. This paste also felt cloying and clumped in my hair in a bad way. My hair felt stick after so I didn't get a fluffy look that I was after, I wanted the tops to spike but it was weighed down. ..... I should mention that I'm female. However I asked my brother for his honest opinion of the scent and he wrinkled his nose saying yuck. I'm not exaggerating it is rank and I wasted 20 bucks on this. KEY: ⭐️ 1 star= Disappointed. I don't recommend it, it is poor quality, or it does not reflect the advertising. ⭐️⭐️ 2 stars = Has some redeeming quality. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars = It's passable. Solid hold with natural look
On the never ending quest to finding the right pomade, I stumbled upon Uppercut and decided to give it a try. I work 8-10 hours in a manufacturing facility with exposure to humidity & wind. Afterwards I normally workout at my local gym. This pomade overall endures the elements and keeps my hair in place (combover with side part). Pros: -pleasant scent (only noticeable to the user) -low shine hold, giving it a natural look -lasts several months given daily use Cons: -not as water soluble as I would’ve liked. Sometimes take several rinses with shampoo to get out. Overall I’d recommend trying this brand. I look forward to sampling other types of Uppercut varieties as well.

Not a bad product, but confusing packaging
I meant to purchase more Uppercut Featherweight pomade, but got this by accident. Nots not bad, decent smelling and a bit more lightweight than the former, (ironically), but from the top-down quick glance of the product it’s easy to mistake. From the side the package has a green ring compared to Featherweight, but maybe the photo could feature the product at a slight angle to showcase the color strip variation to help prevent accidental purchases.
